Yeah, it's a bummer for us too. XRP and USDT will no longer be supported on Newton as of January 15th, 2022 (UPDATE: now extended to January 19th!). The phase out process will begin on December 20th, 2021. Read on for more information:
Why is this happening?
Like many other cryptocurrency platforms, we're ending XRP and USDT support for legal and regulatory reasons. We know that many of our customers will be disappointed by this news, and we hope you understand that we are too.
What do you need to know?
XRP and USDT will be phased off of Newton over the next few weeks. Here's the plan:
December 20th, 2021: XRP and USDT transfers into Newton will be turned off at 11:59pm ET. After this time, you will not be able to send XRP or USDT to Newton. However, trading and withdrawals of XRP and USDT will remain available until December 31st.
December 31st, 2021: XRP and USDT trading will be turned off at 11:59pm ET. After this time, you will not be able trade CAD/XRP or CAD/USDT. Withdrawals of XRP and USDT will remain available until January 15th (UPDATE: now extended to January 19th!).
January 15th, 2022 (UPDATE: now extended to January 19th, 2022!): XRP and USDT withdrawals will be turned off at 11:59pm ET to complete the delisting process. You must ensure that all remaining XRP and USDT has been moved out of your Newton account by the extended January 19th, 2022 deadline. Any remaining XRP and USDT after this deadline and any subsequent reminders will be liquidated by Newton on your behalf, and the cash (CAD) proceeds will be delivered to your Newton account.
We'll keep you posted about these deadlines along the way, so please keep an eye out for updates via email!
