Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required when you log in to Newton. Depending on what method of authentication you use to log in (authenticator app or security key) and what device (phone or laptop), then if you get a new device, you will need to ensure that you've properly migrated over your MFA to the new device.
If you use an authenticator app on your phone
If you switch phones and you use an authenticator app code as your second-factor login to Newton, then you will need to ensure that you've exported your authenticator codes from your old phone to your new phone, before you discard of your old phone. We've linked to instructions for doing so for two of the most popular authenticator apps. If you use a different authenticator app, you'll have to follow the instructions for that app.
If you use a security key to log in
You should be able to use the same security with any device that supports it. If you are switching to using a new phone, ensure beforehand that your phone supports connections to the security key.
If you use biometric login
Biometric login is an added step that can be set up for every new device. So, if you switch devices, the main thing will be to ensure that your auth app codes or your security key work with the new device, as specified above.
Once that is in place, then on first login to the app with the new device you will be prompted to once again set up biometric login.
If you are still having problems accessing Newton on your new device, please contact customer support to reset your MFA. Be aware that customer support will require identity verification in order to complete the request so that you can set up your MFA on the new device.
