Boosting your account’s protection is easier than ever with our new suite of security features. Navigate to Account > Security to explore our recommended options for improving your account’s security.
Below are a few steps you might consider:
Step 1: Add Your Trusted Devices
Managing and tracking devices that you use to access your account helps prevent unauthorized logins. When you login with a new device, you’ll be prompted to review and approve it. Devices remain untrusted until you explicitly trust them in your Device List.
Actionable Tip: Periodically check your Device List to ensure you recognize all of the listed devices.
Step 2: Review Your Login Activity
Regularly monitoring your login activity allows you to detect any suspicious activity early.
Actionable Tip: Review the timeline of recent logins, including device type, the IP location, IP address and timestamps.
Step 3: Set Up an Anti-Phishing Code
Phishing scams often trick users into sharing sensitive information by sending you emails or messages purporting to be from Newton. Your unique Anti-Phishing Code helps you verify legitimate communications from Newton. After creating an Anti-Phishing Code, this code will appear in all official messages from Newton.
Actionable Tip: Choose a code that’s easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. Avoid sharing your Anti-Phishing Code with others, and remember to change your code immediately if it is ever compromised.
Step 4: Review Your Security Checklist
This security checklist guides you through additional recommended steps to strengthen your account.
- Set a Trusted Contact - Add someone you trust who can be contacted in the case of possible situations of financial abuse or fraud.
- Add a Trusted Device - Designate frequently used devices for a faster and more secure login.
- Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Add an extra layer of security by setting a verification code in addition to your password.
- Set Up Your Anti-Phishing Code - More easily identify potential phishing scams with your personalized verification code.
When should I review & update my security settings?
We recommend periodically reviewing your login activity and ensuring your trusted devices list is up to date. Here are a few scenarios to consider:
- Lost or stolen device - Remove the device from your “Trusted Devices” list and reset your password to prevent unauthorized access.
- Giving away or selling a device - Before parting with your old devices, remove them from your “Trusted Devices” list.
- Unfamiliar activity - If you notice unrecognized logins or devices, reset your password and enable multi-factor authentication to enhance your security. Additionally, please notify our support team.
