MFA refers to multi-factor authentication. It refers to an authentication method whereby a user is required to provide two or more different methods of verification. For instance, your password to login to Newton would be one factor, and the use of an authenticator app would be a second factor.
Multi-factor authentication is a staple for account security. It is especially important for cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms since it acts as a second layer of account protection from theft and takeovers.
2FA stands for two-factor authentication or dual-factor authentication, and it is a subset of MFA. 2FA is authentication that requires exactly two factors for authentication.
There are a variety of MFA methods out there, but security keys and authenticator apps (both supported by Newton) rank among the most secure.
