Beginning October 24, 2023, at 12:00 AM EDT, Zcash (ZEC), Holocash (HOT), Serum (SRM), Dash (DASH), My Neighbor Alice (ALICE), and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) will no longer be supported on Newton. Read on for more information.
Why is this happening?
In November 2022, our service providers suspended support for ZEC, HOT, SRM, DASH, ALICE, and WBTC. Despite initial hopes for reinstatement, our subsequent discussions indicate that support will not be restored. Therefore we’ve made the difficult decision to formally sunset these assets.
We understand that some users may be disappointed by this decision. Please know that we do not take these decisions lightly, and we have explored other options to restore trading on these assets.
What do you need to know?
ZEC, HOT, SRM, DASH, ALICE, and WBTC will be delisted soon. Key dates are as follows:
October 23, 2023: Withdrawals will be disabled by 12:00 AM EDT. Please note that withdrawals are not available for SRM.
October 24, 2023: Any remaining ZEC, HOT, SRM, DASH, ALICE, and WBTC held on the Newton platform will be liquidated and the coins will be entirely delisted by 12:00 AM EDT.
As a reminder, support for trades of these assets is not supported. If you currently hold any of these assets, you will be able to withdraw your holdings until October 23, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT. Holdings of these assets left on the Newton platform after October 24, 2023, will be liquidated on your behalf at the current market value. The CAD proceeds from the sale(s) will be deposited into your Newton account once complete.
To avoid liquidation of your assets, we encourage you to be proactive and withdraw your holdings of ZEC, HOT, SRM, DASH, ALICE, and WBTC before October 24, 2023.
Note: Beginning October 24, 2023, at 12:00 AM EDT, deposits of ZEC, HOT, SRM, DASH, ALICE, and WBTC sent to your Newton account cannot be recovered. Please refrain from funding your account with the above-mentioned assets, and ensure to remove these Newton wallet addresses from any address book entries you may have saved to prevent unintended transactions.
